Dr. Chu Ho is an Associate in Arup’s New York office and has more than 25 years of experience in geotechnical engineering practice as a consultant, contractor and in research. He is a key member of Arup’s Geotechnics and Tunneling Practice and is the Americas Region Geotechnical Skills Network Leader. In the last 9 years, he has been intimately involved in the design and construction of the Second Avenue Subway in New York City and is currently the Chief Geotechnical Engineer for the project. Dr. Ho has extensive international experiences in projects involving deep excavations and foundations for tall buildings, highway bridges and underground transit stations and has contributed significantly to publications relating to site formation, earth support systems, specialist foundation construction and ground stabilization. He has previously worked as General Manager (Ground Engineering Division) at Presscrete Engineering Pte Ltd, a public listed specialty contracting company in Singapore, with responsibility for Design, Construction, Sales and Marketing.

Dr. Chu Ho holds a Doctor of Science degree in Geotechnical Engineering from MIT, an MSc degree in Engineering Rock Mechanics from Imperial College of Science and Technology in London, and a BEng Honors degree in Civil Engineering from the National University of Singapore. He is an active member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and Deep Foundation Institute and teaches part-time in the Master of Engineering Program in Civil and Environmental Engineering at MIT. He serves as a Reviewer for technical papers submitted to the ASCE Journal of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering and ICE Journal of Ground Improvement.
